Our Hack-a-Thon is here. 19 days and counting for the event that will take place at the Lee County EDO Office: 2201 Second Street, Fort Myers, FL 33901, on June 5th, 6th, and 7rh.

The schedule will be Friday, 6/5 6:00pm - 9:00pm; Saturday, 6/6 9:00am - 11:00pm; Sunday, 6/7 9:00am - 2:00pm.

We selected two themes this year: Blue Zones Project and Safe Firefighting.

Our collaboration topic, where we look for as much collaboration from all participants to create combined solution is:

Blue Zones ProjectThis topic will allow all participants to create solutions that improve the health of our residents. By providing solutions and ideas to help apply the 9 key principles from the Blue Zones Projects we would increase the community well-being.

The 9 principles are:

So, here is the challenge for you :

How to create solutions, both IT oriented and also non-IT, to help people achieve and leave each one of these principles.

Now let us heat up a bit our competition topic, where we are looking for teams that will create great solutions.

Safe Firefighting: This topic will allow all participants to create solutions that help firefighters to collect all possible data from a fire scene.  Collecting these data points is extremely important to not only insure the safety of firefighters but also to provide historical data from fire scenes and events.

So, here is the challenge for you:

Each team will be provided with an Arduino (or Raspberry-Pi) kit with some sensors and the team will assemble a device that collects data from several sensors, transmits this data to a remote computer and report on such data.
